A friend recently wrote a piece about her need to take a trip when things were getting samey.  I agree, there comes a time when we forget to look at what is right under our noses. Our routine is the same, our ideas are the same, nothing is changing!  When we go to a different country we are jolted out of the status quo and we are more likely to put on the explorers hat.  It becomes fun to explore new things – new ideas and customs, new scenery and food.

We can achieve the same result without leaving home. Try looking at the world with new eyes.

  • Go for a walk with a child and look at things through their eyes.
  • Have a conversation with someone who has different ideas to you and really listen and ask questions…you might change some of your ideas.
  • Take a different route to work.
  • Try doing a task with the left hand if you usually use the right hand.

Change your viewpoints. It is fixed viewpoints that create the sameness – the repetition of events, arguments, and quite frankly things get boring. You can learn to change your viewpoint deliberately – get in touch and I will teach you an Avatar® exercise. Adopting another way of looking at things is a simple act, that can have magical consequences. Just think…
